The AuthorPreneur Central Self-Publishing Grant helps uncontracted children’s book writers, by getting their works illustrated or printed, and self-published. AuthorPreneur Central has two self-publishing grants. The Illustration Grant is given to outstanding unpublished manuscripts that are in need of illustrations. The Printing Grant provides self-publishing authors financial assistance with offset printing, where they can see a larger return on their investment and have the ability to showcase a higher-quality book. Both grants must be used towards APC services. AuthorPreneur Central reserves the right to not award a grant for any reason, in any given year.
Illustration Grant
The Illustration Grant is given to outstanding unpublished picture book manuscripts that are fully edited and ready for illustrations. Manuscripts sent to us will remain secure and only presented to a hand-selected group of experienced judges. Winner will be awarded a $1,000 grant to put towards the cost of illustrations, and will be offered free coaching through the self-publishing process.
Printing Grant
The Printing Grant is given to outstanding published or unpublished books that are in need of offset printing. Digital files sent to us will remain secure and only presented to a hand-selected group of experienced judges. Winner will be awarded a $1,000 grant to put towards the cost of printing, and will be offered free coaching through the self-publishing process.

Deadline: Submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm MST. Submissions received after this date will not be considered.
Eligibility:
1. Submitted works should fall in the children’s genre. No other genre’s will be considered. Children’s early reader chapter books are eligible.
2. You may not submit a work that has been traditionally published or is under contract. If the work is put under contract before the grant winner is announced, you will become ineligible.
3. An author may submit only one manuscript or book to be considered. You may, however, submit your manuscript to both grants.
4. Applying for both grants? You will need to make TWO separate submissions. One with “Illustration Grant” selected and one with “Printing Grant” selected.
5. Grant money must be used towards APC services and can only be used for the manuscript or book submitted.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
1. Please submit your children’s book manuscript or digital picture book file in PDF format only. Word Documents and other formats will not be accepted.
2. Manuscripts should not exceed 1,200 words. For children’s early reader chapter books, you may submit a preview of no more than five pages of text, and each page should include the title of your book in the corner. Please also include the title of your book in the file name.
3. Digital picture books should not exceed 1,200 words, and files should be no larger than 40MB. Please include the title of your book in the file name. For files over 20MB, please add a Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer link to the bottom of the submission form.
